Baby it’s cold outside! ❄️❄️☃️ Well, actually not today in the greater Bloomimgton area but cold weather is coming and The Fiber Arts Store has everything one needs to keep warm— socks, ear warmers, wrist warmers and fingerless gloves. We are open today, Friday until 5 PM and Saturday and Sunday noon until 4 PM. Supporting local fiber artists warms OUR hearts and we thank you.

In addition to GORGEOUS handcrafted items, the Fiber Arts Store has three standing needlework frames for sale. Gently and lovingly used, this adjustable Hinterberg quilt frame is in perfect condition. The hoop is 29.5”, stands 30” tall and sells for $50. Stop in this weekend to see all three standing frames. Do you have a project in mind for Veterans Day, November 11? We can help! Check out the Fiber Arts store’s lovely selection of yarns in patriotic colors. Located in College Mall next to the American Eagle clothing store, we are open Friday through Sunday noon until 4 PM.

Two Wednesdays, November 10 & 17, 2021: 5:30 – 8 PM

This class is not for everyone — only BEGINNERS! If you have never held knitting needles or haven’t in many years, now is the time to jump on the knitting bandwagon and join the fun. All you need for this class is 3 Hershey’s Kisses (or comparable treats), a pair of scissors and your positive attitudes.

You will learn to “speak” knitting lingo and terms like cast-on, knit, purl, stockinette stitch, garter stitch and bind-off will be rolling off your tongue as these techniques transform into a scarf. Your class fee includes two sessions, detailed instructions with illustrations, needles, yarns (one for practice and another yarn for the scarf) and a pattern for the Sampler Scarf. The first week you will learn the basics and take home yarn to use for practice. Yes, there is homework! At the second session you will choose the yarn for your scarf and off you will go knitting a scarf or a cowl if you want a shorter accessory.

Don’t fret if you feel two sessions won’t be adequate; Knit Night is held every Tuesday from 4:30 – 6:30 PM and one of us is always there and happy to help. If you don’t care for the yarn included with the cost of the class, The Fiber Store has dozens of appropriate yarns for sale.

It’s time to decorate for Fall and the Fiber Arts Store has pumpkins, acorns, candy corn (with no calories!) and sunflowers ready for you. Or if you want to make your own, beautiful yarn in autumnal colors. The shop will be open Friday- Sunday, noon - 4 PM in the Bloomimgton College Mall next to American Eagle. Learn to Weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom

$60 – $75
Would you like to learn to weave or brush up on beginning skills?In one day you will become familiar with the loom, weaving terminology, learn to direct warp, practice weaving a simple weave and take home a finished spa cloth.

The 100% cotton yarn you need for the project will be furnished and we have looms to rent if you don’t have one. You will need to bring a snack, beverage, and a pair of scissors. Any local pandemic protocols in place will be followed.

Fee: $60 if you use your own loom; $75 to rent a loom. Class size is limited. Payment is due in advance. Mail checks to The Fiber Arts Store, 2894 E Third St., Bloomimgton, In 47401 or stop by the store Friday – Sunday, noon – 4 PM or use PayPal from our website at http://bloomspinweave.org/events.
