In this one-day workshop, students will learn to warp and weave krokbragd using 2 heddles on a rigid heddle loom to weave mug rugs. Previous rigid heddle experience is necessary. The students need to be proficient in warping a single heddle and weaving on a rigid heddle loom. Students will find it helpful to have taken “Two-Heddle Rigid Heddle Weaving.”
The weave structure is a 3-shaft twill. Students will use an indirect warping method. It is recommended that students use a provisional warp made up of 3 colors of yarn, preferable fairly fine gauge, smooth and not very stretchy. Number 10 crochet cotton works well. The colors that the directions will be using are green, blue and red. Students will need 22 yards of each of these colors. Students may measure off the provisional warp ahead of time. Students will need 11 ends of each color that are 2 yards (or 72 inches) long.
The students will need a rigid heddle loom that will accommodate 2 heddles and (2) 10-dent heddles to fit the loom.
The class will meet on one Wednesday for 6 hours. Students should bring a brown bag lunch.
