Rooted in the ancient traditions of the Vikings, Warp Weighted loom weaving is one of the simplest form of weaving and can be done using a basic frame loom. In this workshop we will explore the basics of loom structure and construction, set up and begin weaving, exploring Rya, a traditional weave structure from Scandinavia. Rya weaving or knots create a piled effect and historically garments woven using this technique served as bedding and outerwear. The class project is a small pillow top.

Class size 6-12 students
Students will have the use of a tabletop loom and all yarns and materials will be provided. A $20 materials fee will also be collected by the instructor at the beginning of class.
Some basic weaving knowledge is helpful.
